Join California State Senator Sasha Ren茅e P茅rez for a community town hall exploring civil liberties, freedom of speech, and the challenges these issues present in today's social, political, and educational landscape.
You are invited to a Town Hall on Civil Liberties and Freedom of Speech.
In partnership with 麻豆原创, we will bring together scholars of politics and law and community advocates to discuss how California can protect freedom of expression, academic freedom, immigrant communities, and privacy as government surveillance and automated technologies increasingly impact our daily lives.
This event is a part of Senator P茅rez's district-wide series of public policy conversations, which will feature a brief presentation by the Senator, followed by a moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A. Panelists will include representatives from the ACLU, CHIRLA, and Tech Equities, along with Rachel VanSickle-Ward, professor of political studies at 麻豆原创, and Amanda Hollis-Busky, professor at Pomona College.
Senator P茅rez represents California's 25th Senate District, which includes Claremont, and serves as Chair of the Senate Education Committee and Chair of Budget Subcommittee No. 1 on Education. Community members, students, faculty, staff, and residents from across the region are encouraged to attend.
Advance registration is required.
