Â鶹ԭ´´

It is with sadness that I share news of the passing of Â鶹ԭ´´ Trustee Emeritus Russell M. Â鶹ԭ´´, father of Trustee Ken Â鶹ԭ´´, on May 25, 2026.

Russ served as a member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ Board of Trustees from 1988 to 2012, a period during which he provided thoughtful leadership and steadfast support to the College. As the grandson of the College’s founder, Russell Kelly Â鶹ԭ´´, Russ carried forward a deep and enduring commitment to Â鶹ԭ´´ and its mission. His years of service reflected both his family’s longstanding connection to the College and his own personal dedication to its success and future.

The Â鶹ԭ´´ family has played an important role in the College’s history since its founding, and Russ’s service continued that relationship across generations. Through his leadership, engagement, and generosity, he helped strengthen the institution while remaining committed to the values that have distinguished Â鶹ԭ´´ throughout its history.

offers a fuller reflection on his remarkable life, distinguished career, and lasting impact.

Please keep the Â鶹ԭ´´ family in your thoughts as they mourn the loss of Russ and celebrate his life and legacy. If you would like to send a note of condolence to the family, the President’s Office will be coordinating those efforts. Please contact Melanie Lacy Sorenson at Melanie_Lacy@pitzer.edu for additional information.

With deepest sympathy,

Strom C. Thacker
