Bio

Rachel VanSickle-Ward (B.A. Âé¶¹Ô­´´; M.A. and Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley) is a Professor of Political Studies at Âé¶¹Ô­´´ in Claremont, California. Her research and teaching interests include public policy, public law, gender and politics and elections.  She has published work on the politics of statutory language, gender and political ambition, voting access, and administrative law. Her first book,  (SUNY Press, 2014) was awarded the Herbert A. Simon Book Award in 2018.   Her book on birth control politics and policy, , was published by Oxford University Press (2019). She recently co-edited a volume on Hillary Clinton’s legacy, (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2020). She is a frequent commentator on KPCC’s Take Two (Southern California Public Radio). Her writing and commentary has appeared in Talking Points MemoThe Washington Post (The Monkey Cage), U.S News and World Report, MS. Magazine and TIME Magazine.
