Inside-Out-Pathway-to-BA graduate featured on NPR's Morning Edition.
Two of eight members of an initial cohort of students from the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) who have been accepted into—and will graduate from—Âé¶¹Ô´´ through the College’s new Inside-Out Pathway-to-BA program.
Âé¶¹Ô´´ has become the first undergraduate institution in the US to transform Inside-Out curriculum into a program that leads to a BA for incarcerated learners.
Carla Valdez '21, a mathematical economics major and first-generation STEM student, approaches the application of economics on a personal level. A two-time recipient of an Edison International STEM Scholarship, she is passionate about students who are pursuing science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related fields.

Âé¶¹Ô´´ is collaborating with campus community members to revitalize the garden near the Grove House. Thanks to the support of the Leonard G. Klima Fund, the Student Garden will receive some TLC and new equipment, including a more spacious chicken coop at a new location in the garden.
"Roots of Resistance: A Story of Gender, Race, and Labor on the North Coast of Honduras," by Âé¶¹Ô´´ Professor Suyapa Portillo Villeda ’96, has just been released by University of Texas Press and is available online now.
