Immigration Law Meets Liberal Arts
Immigration attorney and ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ Professor Sumangala Bhattacharyaβs new course, Immigration Advocacy Clinic: Humanitarian Immigration, gives undergraduate students the rare opportunity to help people who have immigrated to the US with their legal cases. Students mix theory with practice as they put ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄βs core value of social responsibility into action by supporting clients while learning how the law, history, and humanity intertwine.
βThe history of immigration, current affairs, and law are all brought together to empower students in their education to assist others,β said Aru Warrier β25, who took the course in the spring and worked with Bhattacharya and two other ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ students as an immigration advocacy clinic fellow this summer.
